Javea is located on the Costa Blanca, in the Valencian Community, just about equidistance between Valencia and Alicante, something like 100 kilometres either way.
It is mainland Spain's most easterly point and for this reason is often referred to as "amanecer de españa" or "the dawn of Spain", being where the sun first rises.
On a clear day, the Balearic island of Ibiza can be seen quite clearly.
Javea itself is a small, historic town , free of high rise buildings offering a relaxing holiday and contact with a friendly and forthcoming local population.
Javea with its variety of landscape, ranging from sandy coastlines to rugged mountain areas, its mild year-round climate, its careful planning policies and extensive tourist facilities, is a jewel on the Costa Blanca, combining beauty and modern facilities with the charm of an ancient fishing village.
Javea has one of the most attractive seaports along the Mediterranean, due both to its location and to its unsurpassed fishing and sports installations.
The modern Yacht Club at the sports marina has nearly 300 berths and facilities for all types of water sports, sailing, fishing, scuba diving, water skiing, windsurfing etc. Just outside of the town, surrounded by pines and orange groves, the Javea Golf Club offers a pleasant setting for golfers. There are several other golf courses within easy access of Javea. A number of sports clubs and associations in the area promote tennis, horse-riding and even shooting.
The Arenal beach area is the commercial and tourist part of Javea .The beautiful, sandy bay is planted with palm trees and has play areas for children. The bay is fringed by the promenade with its wonderful choice of bars and restaurants offering national and international specialities. Interesting shops and boutiques abound.
The clean, warm, blue Mediterranean Sea washes its miles of beaches, coves and cliffs where you can enjoy hours of sun and sea. With its variety of landscape, its mild year round climate Javea is a jewel on the Costa Blanca.
JAVEA Golf Courses and Costa Blanca Golfing
However lovely Javea may be, to complete the picture, a golf club is needed where golfers can come and enjoy the wonderful surroundings. To cover this need the Club de Golf Javea was built. Situated between the mountain El Montgo and the hills of Cumbre del Sol, Club de Golf Javea can offer you a perfect way to enjoy the Spanish climate, from tee to green.
VALENCIA Golf Courses
There several courses in complete harmony with the mediterranean landscapes, all of them in a privileged location, designed by the most renowned designers and golf professional players. Campo de Golf El Saler is considered as one of the best 50 in the world and third in the european ranking. Valencia also hosts Club de Golf El Bosque with a forest landscape, picturesque Club de Golf Escorpion, and Club de Golf Manises a charming 9 hole course and also the oldest one in Valencia.
Javea has many restaurants where one can try international cuisine as well as local dishes.
Javea town has a rich culinary tradition which has been entirely preserved and which can be sampled, in the form of "Tapas", in most bars of the town.
Since Javea is a coastal town, fish and shellfish dishes prevail. Try the delicious fish stews "cruet de peix" and "suc roig", or fried dishes such as "peix fregit". Also typical are fresh salted anchovies, tuna and the tasty "borreta de melva" as well as Xàbia´s delicacy "bogamarins" (sea urchins).
Rice is a main ingredient of many dishes, such as "arròs al forn" (oven-baked rice), "arròs amb costra"(covered with a crust of omelette), "arròs amb fesols i naps"(rice with beans and turnips),"arròs a la marinera"(literally, fixherman´s rice), or "arròs a banda"(rice with fish stock), "arròs amb bledes"(rice with beet) and, of course, the traditional Paella. Also typical of Xàbia are "cocas", small pizza-like pastries with pepper and tomato, or oil and anchovies, and "empanadillas", pasties filled with vegetables such as peas or spinach, or with pepper, tomato, tuna and boiled egg, "putxero", a hearty stew with local vegetables and meat balls, snails, salted fish and sausages.
As for desserts, local fruit is predominant (oranges, apples, pears, grapes, watermelon, melon, strawberries, pomegranates and figs) as well as almonds, raisins and dried figs.
